"Whenever the load runs late, I inevitably receive 8 or 9 phone calls from frustrated users who have received database error messages they don’t understand.

 

First, we needed to improve communications, so we activated an iGuard policy to automatically block access to each table as it is being loaded. Now, if a user requests a table that’s being loaded, they get an informational Automated Helpdesk on their desktop, instead of a database error. It’s like a virtual help desk, saving us time and keeping the users "in the know". I don’t even have to shut down the entire database during load, just one table at a time."
